PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
We were asked by an operator to repair a Hawker 900XP with a suspected damaged nose leg and steering. The aircraft was grounded in Birmingham, 150 miles from Interflight HQ, and the maintenance manuals showed no clear inspection criteria, so our call-out service rushed to the scene to assess the situation and get the plane back in service fast.
OUR SOLUTION
We submitted a detailed damage report to assess whether the nose leg needed to be removed. Once on-site, our team inspected the aircraft and found that it was serviceable with no damage. The nose wheel tyres were badly worn and needed replacing, however, which usually involves a lengthy delay whilst either the wheels are sent away for repairs or new tyres are ordered in from an external supplier.
We keep a stock of Hawker wheels at Interflight’s Biggin Hill base, so our team quickly flew back to collect new ones before driving them to Birmingham in our AOG call-out vehicle. The replacements were fitted within 24 hours, saving valuable time and ensuring the aircraft was back in service within two days of the initial call coming in.
